In a significant effort to increase sales and use of electric cars (EVs) within Uttar Pradesh, the State of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has set a deadline and is rushing to convert the vehicles that are used by all departments of the government to EVs in a gradual way until 2030. To achieve this, guidelines were issued to every government department that can purchase EVs in the event of nomination without a tender. Buying EVs could be over the maximum amount following the law. If this goal is achieved before 2030, Uttar Pradesh can become the first state in the nation to be 100% electric within government departments.
According to an official from one of the officials from the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department, because government vehicles are, until now, procured via tenders made on GeM, the GeM portal, EV-related companies have yet to be registered on it. That’s why a provision has been included in the policy that EVs can be bought through government agencies such as Rajasthan Electronics Instrument Ltd. (REIL) and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL), as well as others through the nomination of a tender. However, as electric vehicles are now more expensive than diesel-powered petrol, it is also granted some flexibility to the upper spending limit for the purchase of cars.
To encourage EVs to increase the use of electric vehicles in UP To promote EVs in the UP, the Yogi government has decided to offer the possibility of 100% exempt from taxes on roads and registration fees for three consecutive years. The computation of 3 years will take place starting on October 14th, 2022. If an individual purchases electric vehicles manufactured by UP and receives an amount of rebate for five years or more. Discounts are also offered through the Central Government on EVs. The rebate offered by the State Government is separate from the subsidy the Central Government provides. In light of the exemptions granted by the state and central government, prices for two-wheelers could be cut by INR 20 000 and the cost of cars by INR 1.25 lakhs, according to an official announcement.

With the development of infrastructure along with incentives and the launch of new models for electric vehicles from the government, electric vehicle sales in the United States are predicted to increase throughout the remainder of the decade. Additionally, according to the statement, three-wheelers and two-wheelers are expected to be the most popular in the future.
