Toyota Camry First Drive Review

Toyota Camry is a good looking sedan that has played it down when it comes to flaunting its design. What can not be denied is, its comfort, reliability and efficiency factors. It is categorized in the mid size sedan section. Its sale figures clearly indicate its success.

Toyota Camry is available in four trim levels. They are Base, LE, SE and XLE.The Base trim level sports 16 inch steel wheels, power windows, air conditioning, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power accessories, cruise control, 60/40 split folding rear seat and a 6 speaker music system.
The LE trim level has got all the features of the base trim plus additional features such as 8 way power adjusting driver seat and keyless entry.The SE trim level is a sportier version of the Camry. It has got 17 inch alloy wheels, sport tune suspension and customized interior and exterior design. The XLE trim level is the most luxurious of all. It has got 16 inch wheels, automatic dual zone climate control, auto dimming rear view mirror, power adjusting passenger seat, leather seats, reclining rear seats, wood tone accents, moon roof, an upgraded JBL music system with satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and music and a softer suspension.

Engine and its performance

Toyota Camry has got two engine options. The first one is the 2.5 litre 4 cylinder engine that develops 169 horse power and 179 horse power in the SE trim level.
It has got a six speed manual transmission and an automatic six speed transmission for XLE trim level. It has got the front wheel drive system.
The fuel efficiency given by this engine comes to 22 mpg in city and 33 mpg on highways for the manual transmission. For the automatic transmission the fuel efficiency comes to 22 mpg in city and 32 mpg on highways.The second engine option in the Camry is the 3.5 litre V6 engine that develops 268 horse power and 248 lb-ft torque. It comes with a six speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive system. This engine goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. The fuel efficiency generated by this engine is 19 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highways.

Safety Stats 

The safety features included in the Toyota Camry are brake assist, anti lock brakes, front seat side airbags, driver knee airbag, full length side curtain airbags and stability control.Toyota Camry earned three stars for overall frontal crash protection and side crash protection which is definitely not the best. The IIHS gave “good” rating in side impact and frontal offset crash tests.
