5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR CAR’S AIR CONDITIONER FEEL FASTER
1. REPLACE THE CABIN AIR FILTER.
TheĀ cabin filterĀ stops dust, pollen, and other pollutants from entering your car via the heat and A/C vents. Filter clogging or dirt can cause A/C to stop or block the flow, causing cold air to not reach your cabin.

2. PARK IN THE SHADE IF POSSIBLE
Prevent heat buildup in your car and give your A/C an early start
According to theĀ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cars left in direct sunlight can heat up to 131-172Ā°F while outside temperatures range from 80-100Ā°F.
Safety and security are important considerations. Don’t leave windows half-open or cracked. Instead, park in a shaded spot.
It’s fine to be a vulture in the summer heat and circle the lot for some shade. You can also wait for a covered spot under an umbrella.
Make your own shade if parking in the shade is impossible. To prevent the sun from making your car an oven, put up a windshield shade. Sunshades are also a great way to protect your car’s interior against damaging UV rays, which can cause cracking and discoloration.
3. SUPERCHARGE YOUR A/C System

4. DON’T GO CRAZY ABOUT MAX A/C.
It’s tempting to just turn on the air conditioner and make it “max cool” as soon as you get into your car. Did you know that? It’s not the best way to get it cold. Your A/C setting to “max” means that the car is taking in air from the inside of the vehicle, cooling it, and then blowing it back inside.
This is the problem: When you first get into your car, the airĀ withinĀ is much hotter than the outside air. Remember how your car’s temperature can reach almost 200 degrees Fahrenheit? Your A/C is being forced to work harder for no reason.
To make it feel cooler and quicker, start by drawing air from the outside. First, turn off the A/C. Turn the fan at maximum speed. Make sure that the airflow setting is “outside”.
Once you have blown out any hot, humid air, switch on the A/C to “recirculate” mode.Ā You can now set the A/C’s “max cool” setting
5. Avoid giving your car A/C MIXED SIGNALS.
How can you keep the cabin cool once you have forced out the hot air? Turn the temperature dial up to the lowest setting.
Consumer ReportsĀ states that keeping the dial in the middle of the dial can cause car A/C to reheat air slightly. This will make it more expensive and less efficient overall. The fan speed can be adjusted as necessary.
