It’s almost summertime, so you should already have your summer vacations planned and booked (if you haven’t gone on them already, that is). People at my office are already jetting off to Hawaii or Italy or going on sabbatical to follow the local major league baseball team to the playoffs. But no one has yet mentioned going to the Galapagos Islands, which makes me wonder. These islands have some of the most beautiful wilderness and beaches in the world; why don’t more people travel there?
It may be because the Galapagos Islands are so remote, or it may be because they’re so expensive. But if you can spend six weeks following the Giants or taking your family to Italy, you can easily spend time in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and I highly encourage you to do so. There aren’t many places on the planet where you can swim with turtles that are older than the oldest person in history, or see gorgeous brightly-plumed birds strut their stuff right in front of you.
You’d really be surprised how attainable Galapagos Islands travel can be, especially if you follow the cardinal rule of vacation planning: plan well in advance, and do your research. These two simple rules will keep you from bleeding money all over the place and will ensure you get the vacation of a lifetime out of it. If you plan in advance and do enough research before going, you’ll be prepared for any contingency and end up having one of the best vacations you can imagine. This is one of the most beautiful and culture- and nature-rich places on earth, and you should definitely see it.
Galapagos Islands travel is worth the trouble, although you’d be surprised how little trouble it is. You’d also be surprised how manageable the cost is. You can have an amazing vacation and lifelong memories with just a little advanced research and a good travel guide. I guarantee you’ll enjoy your vacation in paradise, and you won’t have to spend an arm and a leg to make some of the most wonderful memories happen.
