If the opening day of Auto Expo 2020 has to be described in a single word, it’s electric vehicles, also known as E.Vs.
The event began on Wednesday, with the major Indian automobile manufacturers, which included Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra, among others, displaying an array of luxurious and modern automobiles. The major Chinese SUV maker, Great Wall Motors of China, has announced its India debut with the unveiling of its Havel, the brand of SUVs, as well as electric concept vehicles.
From luxury models with high-end features to mid-segment vehicles, the majority of automakers have showcased their offerings within the electric mobility segment. In a time when authorities are pushing for the electric mobility market in a major way, it’s normal for automakers to take advantage of the enormous opportunities Indian markets have to offer right now.
However, the automotive industry and government will need to work together to develop the necessary infrastructure to support E.V.s. Chairman of the Board of Directors Ratan Tata took to Instagram on Wednesday to express similar worry. “I would hope that the governments of the world and the auto industry can take a measured view on the propulsion system for the car of the future. The jump to all-EV is difficult, especially without omnipresent charging infrastructure. The approach should realistically legislate the different types of propulsion systems and our journey to electric vehicles can always be supported by improvement in I.C. Engines and introduction of hybrids,” Tata said in his Instagram post.

Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e
Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, unveiled the concept Futuro-e at the Auto Expo 2020 under its “Mission Green Million.” Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest manufacturer, hopes to sell one million eco-friendly automobiles (CNG as well as hybrids, electric vehicles, and so on) over the next couple of years in this program.
It is designed to look like an automobile with a sporty look. It will be available with a variety of options for powertrains, including hybrids and pure EE.V
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors relaunched its 90s popular Sierra version at Auto Expo today, but using an electric concept this time. While it’s a lot more upscale than the model of the 90s and the model that was launched earlier, this one features its original curvaceous rear windows.
Tata hasn’t announced an exact date for the launch of the latest Sierra EV version. Sierra EV.
Mahindra eKUV 100
Perhaps the most exciting announcement in the EV market, Mahindra launched the country’s most affordable electric vehicle, the eKUV100. The initial price ex-showroom for the car can be found at INR 8.25 lakh. Comparatively, Tata Nexon is priced at INR 13.99 lakh. In contrast, MG Hector comes at an ex-showroom cost of INR 12.74 1 lakh.
Volkswagen Crozz
Volkswagen has unveiled its first electric concept SUV, the Crozz. The concept was first shown as a concept during the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show under a modified version dubbed the I.D.
I.Dindra XUV300 Electric
XUV300 Electric, which is an electric variant of the Mahindra XUV300. Although the price has not been revealed, however, the car is currently in the process of being built.
Mahindra Funster
Mahindra’s futuristic concept vehicle “,Funster,” was a huge attraction for crowds. According to Mahindra, Funster is “a thrilling roadster electric concept with a playful convertible mode, nothing short of being an object of desire”.
