In the press conference, Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Martin Schwenk said that the vehicle can accommodate at least four persons to sleep in the car. It also features kitchen space, two gas stoves, a sink-integrated refrigerator, as well as a fold-away table.

The four-seater standard car that can be expanded to six seats is equipped with a 1950cc diesel engine that produces 163 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque.

The company claims that the car is targeted at famous people and families with a love of adventure who want to be outside of their homes.

In his address to reporters, Schwenk claimed his V-Class, as well as the V-Class Elite models, are pioneers of the premium multipurpose automobile (MPV) market in India.

Luxury Car Segment in India

The year 2019 was one of the most difficult years for the automotive industry, where falling sales and adding inventory hampered industry players; according to reports in the media, the automobiles for passengers fell by 17.98 percent between April and November 2019 when compared with the same period in 2018.

It was also reported that the sales of luxury cars were also down this year. The sales of 15,000 and 17,000 luxury models were reported in the second portion of the year, as opposed to 20,000 at the beginning of 2019.

But in January of this year, it was reported that Mercedes Benz India took the place of the top-selling luxury car manufacturer in India in the year 2019. Mercedes Benz India continued to hold the top spot for the fifth time after sales dropped by 11.3 percent.
