Currently lease by ~ VSP Racing, LLC Volusia Speedway Park (Formally known as Volusia County Speedway) is an auto racing facility located near Barberville in Volusia County, FL. It Operates a 1/2 mile dirt oval, and next door a 1/8 mile dirt oval for Karts. During February it hosts races from the Crafstman World of Outlaws Series (Both Sprint Cars & Late Models.) Som of the biggest names in the business show at VSP annually including Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Joey Saldana, Jack Hewitt, Tony Stewart, Kasey Khane, Kenny Wallace, Shane Clanton, Scott Bloomquist, Josh Richards and many many others.
February is also home to the DIRTcar Nationals featureing racing over a two week span including DIRTcar Modifieds, DIRTcar Late Models, and DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds as well.
VSP opened in 1968 as Barberville Speedway, from 1989 to 1992 NASCAR Busch Series enjoyed what is now Known as the Fastest 1/2 Mile in the World!
VSP is also the home of some of the biggest paydays for short track racing around including the Annual Powell Memorial for the Late Models and the Iron Man 100 for the V8 Thunderstocks paying $10,000 to the winner.
VSP was briefly closed during the 2016 season until John Allen signed his lease agreement with World Racing Group to finish out the 2016 racing season. Plans for 2017 and beyond have not been finalized, but will be released following the conclusion of the 2016 season.
